Mr Wilson Miller Book Jr.

Wilson M. Book, Jr. (Bill) 88, passed over peacefully at home April 7, 2022; predeceased by the love of his life, Jane and his faithful companion, Dusty; survived by his devoted children: Devi Book, Bob Book (Suzanne), & Will Book; honorary son: Jim Cummings; beloved grandchildren: Bob Book, Jr. (Kelly), Rachel Roux (Jason) & Kristen Book (Tony Feithen); and cherished great-grandchildren: Danny Book, Rowan McDonough & Ruby Book.

Bill attended Hotchkiss School in Connecticut and graduated from Saint James School in Hagerstown, MD. He obtained a degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, where he joined the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and met his future wife, Jane.

Bill retired from Youngstown Sheet & Tube/LTV after 35 years as a sales engineer. He immediately went on to his second career as the full-time shop assistant and face of Book Racing until he was forced into his final retirement by the pandemic.

He was an avid train watcher and admitted “chocoholic,” who loved Canadian beer, swimming in Lake Muskoka, spending time with his family, watching baseball, reading, and going out to eat. He was a “numbers guy” - full of facts and stats. He was also a “people person,” who collected friends as he made his daily rounds - whenever he met someone new, he always wanted to learn their entire life story.

The family will receive friends at Lain-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Westwood Dr., Park Forest, IL on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 2 - 6 PM.
